i have had my belly button pierced since, 6th December 08, i changed my bar a few weeks later, as the piercer at the shop stated, it was fine, and he even changed it for me, then on the 11th February, i changed it again, this time, it wasn't a proper silver bar, it was a bar from river island, what my boyfriend had bought me, seen as i wanted that from the first day i had my belly done. anyway, i put the lighter over the actual bar what goes inside me, i was told to do this by my friend so it would sterilize it or something. so for a few weeks all was well, everything was fine then on the 28th feb when i got my tragus pierced, that night i looked at my belly and noticed a spot on the side of the bar, near the ball at the top. at tht point i was shitin myself cause i thought it was a keliod. i told my friend, who knows a lot about piercings, who told me to sterilize my bar with the lighter, and she said, oh god this doesnt sound good, try and burst the spot dont go to bed without bursting it, this was at 12 oclock at night. i was up until 2 trying to burst it. i noticed the spot was round the top of my bar so i took my bar out, and left it out over night, i had burst the spot, so it had scabbed when i woke up sunday morning. i rung my friend and asked her what to do, seen as i couldnt ask my mother and dad, cause they didnt know i had it pierced!! she asked her mom and her mom sed, try push the bar in, if not leave it and go back to the shop. i pushed the bar in, made ANOTHER hole, cause im sooo stupid! lol anyway, i just left it cause it didnt look very clever “/ i went to my boyfriends house, and showed his mom, she stated, she would take me to the doctors, in a week, if it didnt look any superior, because it was all red and purple and looked very infected to be honest. i looked at some answers on here, and someone said, it could be in trauma. but anyway, i have left it nearly a month and its superior now, still red but its healing, and i really want my belly bar back in. is there any chance i could pierce it myself? ive tried a bit but it kills, and i reli cant afford another £40 to get it done! what can i do? pierce it myself? and how? thanks x

I got mine from River Island, it's a pink bow with a heart behind it. It's so adorable. I put it when I first pierced it too. I did it in a hospital and the doctor sterilized it before putting it. So far so good. It's been 2 weeks now since I pireced it.

Anyway, I think you should wait more until you pierce it again. You don't want anymore damage in that area. Ok? I'm sure you can wait.

P.S: You’re not supposed to change your belly button ring until 6 - 8 weeks of the process. Preferably 8 weeks.

well most piercers would rather you wait 6 to 8 weeks 4 you get it done again. but if you think its ready then just make sure its shut up. but if your 18 or over you can order clamps and a piercing needle off the web for about 8 dollars. and you can do it your self just make sure that its lines up right and not too close to the edge or it could reject much easier

you changed the bar a few WEEKS later? your suppose to wait a few months. dumb move. dont pierce it yourself. you are going to have to pierce through scar tissue this time so it will hurt more, and you dont want to pierce it all unsightly and crooked. wait till you’ve the money. or superior yet dont get it done at all… you need to halt taking everyones (bad advice) and being such a dumbass
