This is my first tattoo, and i heard it hurts if you're skinny but its something really small..about an inch big. I was planing to get it on the side of my rib cage, a tiny under my bra line. And it's something very easy, a black anchor with the outline of a hot pink heart around it :]

Under your bra line is going to injured, but it's probably the easiest place on the ribs to get tattooed. You go too much further up towards the armpit and it's killer, and you get down to where the floating ribs are and it not only feels really weird because it vibrates your diaphragm, but it makes your insides burn.

But yeah, you picked an area right where it's not so bad. You'll be fine, I've managed to get tattooed basically from my armpit to my upper thigh on one side, you can get a little anchor without too much trouble.

I’ve 5 tatts and in general….They all injured….I have four on my back and one on my hip…..Tattoos hurt regardles…However it depends on where it goes…..As for your rib cage….My tattoo artist says that and your ankels and elbows are the most painful…..

All in all it really depends on the person and there painthreshold….As for me….the one on my hip hurt far worse that the ones on my back (including my spine)…..

As long as you eat before you get it and think of distracting things….It should be okay…..

i've got lots of tattoos and both side of my ribs done and i don't have small ones on them, it doesn't matter if it's your first or last tattoo it depends on your pain thresh hold. when i first started getting tattooed i was 15 and i could go for a good hour but after that it started to injured, but now im up to 3 and a half hours. if you want your ribs done, go for it. it's not as bad as people make it out to be.

An area that is bony will hurt more than a fatty area so it won't be fun. But what you want is pretty small and simple so it will be over SO fast. You won't have to put up with it for long. ^_-
