I LOVE Megan Fox's tattoo on her right side. Would it be stupid or wrong to get the same tattoo? It would only be my second one so i don't know if there are like unspoken rules about that kind of stuff

Answer:
It is totally wrong to replicate someones tattoo if it is custom. I only have custom work and thank God most of it has been free handed so it'd be real difficult to replicate mine exactly even if you did go to the same artist as I did, but I pay good money to good artists to have my original work and I intend to keep it to myself! If you adore the quote then do it in a different font or add something to it to make it your own! I have a quote incorporated into one of my pieces (a song lyric) and I changed it a bit so it wouldn't be copied. And to all those saying it's ok, get some creativity and a good artist for God's sake!

Answer:
It is pretty bad etiquette if I'm honest. It actually is a bit of an unspoken rule. Many artists won't do a tattoo directly copied from someone elses (unless you’ve their express permission). And those that do are generally more desperate for clients. If you intend to change the design as you state then this isn’t so bad in terms of this etiquette. I'm sure there are several people walking around with the same quotes on them. Personally I couldn't imagine why anybody would want a quote taken directly off some celebrity, especially Megan Fox who arguably has the most pathetic reasons for her tattoos, but that's your choice.

Answer:
Yes, it is VERY wrong to copy some one else's tattoo. At least a custom tattoo. Flash you see hanging on the walls of some shops do not specialize in custom work. The Flash are images that are not copyrighted in anyway other than being distributed in its original printed form and are universally used as basic tattoo patterns. Any custom piece I do I either give the client back to stencil and image rendering or put them in the shredder while they’re watching.

But it is true that I’ve created custom pieces using other tattoos as a reference.

Answer:
Flash - the art hanging on the walls in tattoo shops - are meant to be copied. Custom work - pieces created by an artist for one specific person - should not be copied. It's just nice manners. I have one piece of flash, and five custom pieces - I would be brokenhearted if I saw someone else with the designs that my artist and I created together to represent who I am and the things that I love. It is also a tiny disrespectful to the artist who took the time to create the art to just exactly copy it… that's not putting much effort into it.

Answer:
if you like a tatoo you should get it, if someone didn’t want people to replicate their tattoo they wouldn't be putting it out there for the world to see, imitation is a form of flattery, but if your worried about stealing her idea then you can get the tattoo but make some kind of change to it or add something to make it a tiny more specific to you, for example i found a tattoo of a lily with stars trailing down the rib cage and to make it more specific to me i am adding a butterfly at the end so its not exactly the same

Answer:
YES! you should always change/add to a tattoo that you’re getting from someone else to make it your own and to not copy them exactly. nobody wants to go through the trouble of having a tattoo custom drawn for them just to have somebody copy it exactly as is. that why they’re CUSTOM! and some can be very personal. i would have to see one of my very personal custom tattoos copied by someone who it means nothing to.

Answer:
i sorta copied someones tattoo.
I found it on the internet, and the shape is exactly the same, exactly same looking picture. Except i made mine larger and changed the colors to my preference.

It's ok to do what you want. If you love it..just do it! You can always get diff size and colors and style to mix it up and make it your own. It wont be an exact replica that way.
Have fun!

Answer:
To be honest I don't like the idea of copying tattoos, I wouldn't like people taking my ideas just because they look good. They might mean a lot personally to the person who came up with the idea - it kind of ruins it for them if people copy

Answer:
No its not at all there are plenty of people who have the same tattoo its actually nice meeting someone with the same design or close to it because you can relate stories of what it means to you

Answer:
well sum tattoo places that i kno wont like excactly copy another artist work or even touch it up… (maybe its the pace i go) but i think they would do it if its like ur own style somewhat the same but then again absolutely different …
u kno…well

good luck!

Answer:
I don't think it really matters. If you consider it, the tats at the tattoo shops are pretty much duplicates of what other people have had.

Go for it!

Answer:
i don't know if its wrong but i don't want anyone i know getting the m&m guys like i have all 5 on my lower back

Answer:
I have many tattoos. There’s no unspoken rule about them. Get what you want. It's your body, your expression.

Answer:
Similar- Fine
Exact- No

It is just a manner of etiquette. Dont make what someone else has mean less to them.

Answer:
Is it stupid to get the same pair of shoes as someone? No. Go for it! It doesnt matter, and its not like she’ll ever know! If you care about it, theres no reason why you cant have it!

Answer:
It is stupid to get any tattoo but I know of no rules that would apply!
