i have 4 tats. one ive had for about 8 yrs, the others i got this year around april sometime. well, i got one on the top of my hand and one just below my collar bone done by the same guy/shop. the one on my hand itches sometimes though and the outlines are raised on the skin sometimes more than others.. almost like i am allergic to it or something… but all my others are fine. and it's weird to me that it itches.. im wondering if it's my hand soap.. can that cause it? has this happened to anyone else? it's been 5 months, will it go away?

Answer:
skin on the top of your hands and feet is much thinner than anywhere else on your body, a tattoo artist must be very experienced with tattooing areas that thin, if not the result can be tissue scarring when the needle goes too deep into the skin (which causes raised lines, usually the black outline as the most prominent.). This could be what’s causing your hand to itch, the tissue is healing and creating scars.

If you’re allergic to ink, it would be an entire body reaction…

It could be that the itching is because washing and drying your hands during the day causes dry skin. so maybe try moisturizing more often but the raised lines sound to me more like tissue scarring.

well i don't personally have a tattoo but i have friends who do and i'm looking forward to getting a tattoo in a few years maybe but anyways i think you should try changing your hand soap… i mean if you use that to only wash your hands and your others are just fine then i don't see a whole lot that could cause it.

so i hope some part of that helped…
