how long after the tattoo is healed can i shave my leg ? i'm worried it will take out the color?

Answer:
I’ve a tattoo on the back outside of my left ankle, I shave almost each day and it does nothing to the color. Once your tattoo is absolutely healed, this means no scabs, bumps or itchy spots, you can shave as normal. Until then do NOT shave over your tattoo so that you don't accidentally catch a spot and pull the color by tearing the skin while it's still healing. After it's healed, you aren't getting to the ink because it's settled into the lower layers away from where a razor blade gets to. You will be so releived to be able to shave your legs all the way once it's healed. I hated having that line around the edge of my ankle and was so happy when I could finally shave that I did a happy dance for no more itching. Just wait until your skin is back to normal at the surface and it wont be a problem. This will take as long as your body needs so be patient.

Answer:
Wait until it is fully healed. I actually shave all my tats even if it's just peach fuzz on it for the fact I hate having any body hair covering my art. For me I typically wait anywhere between 2-3 weeks depending on how long the tat takes to heal. If there’s even the slightest bit of scabbing left and you shave over it, it could possibly take a massive chunk of your tat with it. Let's just face it, your artist wouldn't be super excited to have to re-do a whole section of it and probably wouldn't do it for free if you shave it off. When it goes back to feeling like normal skin with no scabs, then it's ok. Good luck!

Answer:
I’ve a VERY LARGE leg piece on my left calf. Once all the scabs were absolutely gone, I shaved again. Around 2 1/2 weeks would be my best guess. It'll be fine. It's there forever, dear, and the tiny to no damage done by shaving can be corrected by a touch up from your artist.

Hope I helped. ;-)
