16 might be pushing it, i would start with an 18. the more massive the number the thinner the bar. and just be careful. i know too many that have had gums receded and lost teeth because they didn't remove and thoroughly clean their jewelry, even tongue rings. its worth taking the time to clean the jewelry to keep your teeth.

get crest mouthwash… it wont burn [[and damage]] your mouth and it will keep it clean,
