Do tongue piercing hurt? How much do they cost?

It hurts some but it's pretty swift.. if you're really scared, get it numb-ed. I got it the spray numb on the top of my tongue and they clamped it and I shut my eyes and was squeezing my sister's hand and all of a sudden I felt a sharp, swift pain at the bottom of my tongue (I thought they had just started and were going bottom to top through) but instead they were completed and then you're just in shock, and they slip the ring through as they are pulling the piercing needle out. Then your tongue swells - suck ice. Mostly it just feels weird to have something in your tongue (when your not used to that) and it's swollen, puffs up to a big size, like the whole ring will be covered by your swollen tongue… But it's over and done with VERY swiftly..

At Zebra in Berkeley CA, back in the day it was like $50.. but places vary the price.

I've had my tongue pierced twice (the second time was obviously through scar tissue), and at one point I stretched it from a 12 gauge (about the average sized barbell that you'll see) to a ridiculous 6 gauge. That stated, while it wasn't the most painful piercing I've received, it hurts. It hurts when you get it pierced, then it doesn't so much for about 1/2 an hour, then each time you try to eat or talk it hurts again for about 2-3 days. After that, it's old hat and you'll think it's the coolest thing you've ever done, trust me. ;) I had a ton of fun with it, and it heals swiftly when you're over it (or when you accidentally lose it, like I did). It costs anywhere from $40-$80 depending on your part of town (and where that town might be). Things to look out for: bad piercers (infection, hitting a nerve), chipped teeth (metal barbells can do that, especially with a wicked oral fixation), and the ball unscrewing itself and falling off (you either swallow it or lose the barbell). If you're under 25, don't have a job that loves your tongue, you’ve the money, and have a good idea of your pain thresh hold, I would go for it. Remember to be very vigilant about your oral hygiene (no alcohol-based mouthwash, trust me)!

the price depends on where you get it pierced. mine was about 25 but the price can range between 25 to 60$. the piercing might hurt for some people when the needle goes through but i believe its different for most people. usually it doesn't hurt. but after its pierced it starts to swell and hurt. it should injured for about 3-5 days, a week maximum.

got mine pierced 2x. depends on how long your tounge is. shorter tounge means they're piercing clsr to the nerve, so yes. longer tounge. not so much. hurts more than the navel a tiny less than the cartillage a little more than the “hood.” most painful is when the glands in the tounge start getting overworked (bc by nature they will produce more saliva to “clean the wound” to heal itself) and then causes pressure in the neck, the glands go into your throat. that pain is on & off daily for about 1-2wks. so suck on ice often. but if u sleep w/ur mouth open (u will once ur tounge swells.lol) ur tounge dries out & then when u try to talk the barbell gets friction against the “scabbing ” and hurts. (that will happen anytime your tounge gets really dry) so yeah i guess it hurts, just a matter or when. oh, dont excessive gargle it'll take longer to heal & promote infection bc your killing the good bacteria.

$50-60 is reasonable. $75 if they use novacaine. (very few places are licensed to use it, i had nov 4 me 2nd 1 since it was so close 2 the veins & major saliva gland) make sure u research the place, i got my 1st one @ 16 (underage) and i thought i was so cool bc ha, i fooled them. They did it crooked & it started causing probs, i had to get it re-done

They don't injured much, and i have a really low pain tolerance. Although it hurts a fair bit for the week after when its swollen. As long as you suck on ice its fine though :)

And it depends how well you endure pain. For me the piercing wouldn't have injured has bad if the clamp wasn't there. The clamp is what makes it hurt because it puts pressure.

it kiills and also its likely that something could go wrong with a toungue as opposed to other piercings because of the many things that go in your mouth that could possibly infect it
