I really want it done and im 100% sure im going to get it but before i do what is the chance that it will get rejected? i have my ears, belly button and nose pierced and so far none rejected (if that helps)

i just dont want to pay money for something that’s most likely going to reject!!!

also, how long until the swelling goes down? is it like days or a week or what? cuz i cant let my mom know so i just need to know how long i need to stay away from her! haha.

I got mine done without my mother knowing… the day you get it done you might want to sleep at a friends home because you have to get used to it so you know how to hide it.

My tongue didn't reject but my bellybutton did, twice. I don't think you have to worry about it rejecting. I've never heard of anyone having their tongue reject..
The swelling for my tongue lasted about 4-5 days– the piercing itself didn't injured at all (to me) however while it was swollen and healing I was miserable. Suck on ice chips ..it was the only thing that helped the pain.
Oh and don't stick your tongue out of your mouth after you get it done for a few days. You're going to be tempted to so you can show your friends or whatever but for healing purposes DON'T!

My first question is are you 18? If yes, then you're old enough to make decisions and who cares if your mom sees, she'll have to come to grips with the fact you're an adult sooner or later. If you're under 18 then it is illegal for you to get pierced without parental permission and any shop that will pierce you without checking ID to ensure you’re 18 isn’t a shop to be pierced at. Piercing carries risk and what makes you think that a shop that cares more about making $60 than keeping their doors open gives a damn about your safety?

ANY piercing can reject, some are just far less likely than others, I wouldn't worry about your tongue. As for infection, going to a good clean shop and following proper aftercare the chances are pretty slim. Swelling will vary by person, maybe a couple of weeks, you'll also want to avoid spicy foods and dairy while it's healing.

i got mine done 8 months ago and the swelling went away after 2 days and if you suck on ice it will go away faster.. and i don't know about the rejected i have bellybutton and my ears done a couple times and never had any problems so make sure you use non alcoholic mouth wash you can get it infected if you use the alcoholic kind believe me it sucks an no gum for like 2 months it stuck to your balls

When I got mine done it stayed swollen for about 2 weeks. I couldn't talk and people understand what I was saying for about 3 days. I did mine without my mom knowing and she thought I was on drugs since I wouldn't talk to her. I’ve 8 other body piercings and this was by far the most painful and I'd never do it again. Make sure you rinse with mouth wash after you drink something or eat and you shouldn't have to worry about it getting infected. Also drink lots of slushy drinks. They help a lot.

My mother had hers done this is all I know about them,
It was swelled for 2 weeks, if not more.
You must use mouthwash every morning and night.
NEVER take it out, as your tongue is a muscle and heals itself fast, also when you move your tongue with the ring out it moves the hole, thus you have trouble putting it in again.
Eat mushy foods after piercing, banana, pudding, so on, soup is lovely.
Hot foods heat up the ring. Careful.

Very unlikely that it will unless you have an allergy to any kind of metal. If your really worried ask for a plastic bar to be put in for the duration of the healing period.
My tounge didnt swell that much not enough for me to not be able to talk or eat .. i ate that night.
But due to everyone being diffrent i would state that you should maybe give your self two days… Go stay at a friend! :D

If you worried about you mom seeing it … let me tell you now she’ll! Its very visable while talking,yawning..etc. And when it heals and you start putting colourfull balls in .. even more so.

But while it is healing dont play with it! … especially in the first few hours it will make it swell more! I know its new and you want to but you’ll tear the skin around the pirecing. Your tounge will heal quickly though just as long you look after it .. remember to get a good non-alcoholic mouth wash.

well any piercing can reject. Since you have other piercings that haven't rejected then the tongue should be ok. I have jad several piercings and none to reject but that's my body. It's most likely not going to reject…tongue's don't reject…you just make sure you follow the healing procedures..
the swellng is worst the day after it's done, but continues for about 3-4 days….you'll be speaking funny.

tongue doesnt reject… and it isnt that hard to prevent infection mouthwash after everything you drink, eat, smoke… i have had it for a year and then had to get it redone again because it shut up on me so got it done again and let me state the second time hurts more than the first time… and it doesnt hurt the first time…

i like tongue but i REFUSE to get it because what can you do if ur tongue gets infected??? I NEED my tongue! what else will i eat or kiss with. My tongue is FAR too valuable.

FYI tongues don't reject. th eonly issues are if the piercer pierces your vein and you begin squirting blood, or if it gets infected if you don't care for it right. Food and nasty bacteria can get in there. But most likely youll be fine but MOST LIKELY isn't good enough FOR ME!

I had mine pierced for about 7 years. My tounge swelled up for about 2 days. After that I was able to eat anything and talk right without slurring my words. I played with it for about 2 months or so after that…it was really cool! Good luck and you'll be fine!
