What surface is suggested to practice tattooing?
Jun 25, 2008
I'm going to be apprenticing with a tattoo artist but he wants me to practice on a pig's foot..I'd rather not cus it's gross.
Any suggestions?
Answer: I saw an apprentice practice on an orange also. It was actually on the Hart and Huntington tattoo shop show. I forgot what it's called. But yeah, oranges.
Answer: Ida know - shouldn't an apprentice just do what they're told? Seriously, are you THAT grossed out by a pig's foot? I'm sure your artist isn't telling you to use it because it's funny for them - there's probably a reason, no?
Answer: Sorry, but pigskin in general's the ideal surface around.
I'm going to have to agree with the previous poster - shouldn't you be following the instruction of the artist for whom you're apprenticing?
Answer: I would have to state the ideal surface is actually pig skin, but, oranges, & grapefruit also do the trick…I would advocate the pig skin though. It's not as horrible as it sounds…course you could also buy practice skin….
Answer: An orange you can tattoo anything with pores!! And it smells good a lot superior then a pigs cut off foot that is gross.
Answer: I comprehend your aprehension. I would go to him and ask if there’s another choice.
Answer: pig skin it is the closest thing to human skin, it may be gross but nothing comes easy!
Answer: a orange***saw it on Miami Ink or some show like that
Answer: yeah what he said. i saw that too.
Answer: if it must be an object- a thorned rose
